The Balcony 03:24
I met you on the porch in the drizzle the night mild, the lamp's yellow glowed I asked you why we always meet out here you said 'it's where no one else goes' 'it's where no one else goes' Save for some shadows and a few rays of light I could tell that you were right It was just the two of us and the rain and an ashtray high as Pompeii an ashtray high as Pompeii Then you turned to me and said 'Can't you see? Oh, can't you see? Some people wait all their lives to be looked at like this, oh, just like this' You knocked me out of the ash and into the night Standing there as the rain wet your hair and the party growing cold inside I said 'there's always a time when you tire of the stories and have to go out to the balcony, and find what you can't find inside' I want everyday to be a celebration but it turns into a rescue mission You know that feeling of pulling your courage from the wreck of old constitutions of self and societal illusions Then you turned to me and said 'Can't you see? Oh, can't you see? Some people wait all their lives to be looked at like this, oh, just like this' You knocked me out of the ash and into the night Let's just stay out here tonight

about

Recording during October 2020 in our humble home studio in Victoria, BC. Some songs are new, some songs are old. Many songs haven't made it yet.
Yep. See ya again soon. Maybe not as soon as last time. But soon as far as soon goes.

Jacob and Jeremy met at university while jamming a Bob Dylan song. Obviously. Neither of them took to the book life with much enthusiasm, and they focused instead on soaking up as much music as possible, and learning the craft of their favourite songwriters. After a few years living without a fixed address, and planting trees in northern Canada, they felt like they had honed their songwriting chops enough to move to BC and pursue music full time. One day, local Drummer Clayton Flett happened to notice that these two folkies had no percussionist, and promptly joined the band.

The take their lead from the poetry of the folk/singer-songwriter tradition, but infuse their music with their own electric energy and rock and roll sensibility.
